Kai is often asked to come in as a guest singer with house jazz bands across the country, performing from her repertoire of hundreds of jazz standards from the 1920s to the present day, as well as her own original material.

Her own bands include :

Kai's Cats is the exciting new sextet featuring the arrangements of film composer and orchestrator Simon Whiteside and arranger/bassist Dave Foster, with Kai on vocals.  The sextet (piano, bass, drums, trumpet, sax and voice) plays the jump jive tunes of Louis Jordan, arrangements from the Nancy Wilson and Cannonball Adderley album, as well as popular jazz standards arranged in a jump jive, latin or swing style.

The Kai Hoffman Jazz Band comes in various guises depending on the size of the venue - as a duo (voice and piano), a trio (voice, piano and bass), a quartet (voice, piano, bass and drums) and the sextet.  Her repertoire includes jazz standards from the 1920s to the 1960s, plus her own original material with Kai on vocals and french horn.  Her band is made up from a pool of players including pianists Mike Gorman, Clive Dunstall and Simon Whiteside, bassists Dave Foster, Dave Mannington and Nick Pugh, drummers Jim Hart, Darren Altman and Ben Reynolds, trumpet players Andy Davies, Robbie Robson and Joe Auckland, sax players Sam Crockatt, Sam Bullard and Simon Williscroft.
